Two Years Ago…

How was everyone’s Christmas? Mine was all about sleeping and eating, it felt so good! *aging

So, Christmas has always been like a normal day to me because I don’t celebrate Christmas. The only reason why I’m excited about Christmas is because it’s a public holiday hahahaha. I dont have any memories of receiving presents or having Christmas dinner with my family when I was young … until I went to the States to further my studies, I celebrated Christmas with my close friends and my students (I used to teach Chinese part-time back in the States for kids).

That’s when I learned that it’s pretty fun to actually celebrate Christmas… Everyone gathers together, they sing Christmas songs, eat dinner and open presents together! The most exciting part is definitely the snow! Kalamazoo, snows a lot so I celebrated white Christmas’ for 3 years.

We built our own alcoholic snowman (he was chugging a bottle of beer) in front of my fren’s place. We called it our senior project lol.

Pardon my outfit, It was around 2am so I was wearing my PJ T__T

Christmas in the States is totally different from Malaysia’s. The only place that will be packed and restaurants that are open for business are those in CHINATOWN hahaha. Most of them stay in and spend time with their familes during Christmas & Thanksgiving but in Malaysia, every where seems to be packed with people! All restaurants are fully booked! Hahaha

Anyway, that’s how I realized Christmas is not only celebrated by Christians! Everyone started exchanging gifts, having Christmas dinners and counting down on Christmas eve!

To me, the best part is exchanging gifts HOHOHO. We have been spending Christmas with Jo’s high school friends for 2 years edi! We always have dinner together then we play dirty Santa!

Gift exchange is always fun and entertaining hahahaha, we set a budget then we buy our gifts according to the budget!

2 years ago we did secret santa, we drew names a week before so we know who to buy for! It’s easier to buy gifts when you know who you’re buying for, because you can narrow down what you want to buy!

My first ever secret Santa happened two years ago and it was also the most memorable one because the present that I received is easily way past our budget of RM30 ==”

Jo gave me a ring hehehehe… He cheated la cox the budget supposed to be RM30 to RM50. My most memorable Christmas gift hehe. So, ever since then whenever we celebrate Christmas, the scene of him proposing always comes to my mind.

Last year, we started playing dirty Santa within our small group of friends so I guess we will be sticking with dirty Santa from now on edi LOL.

Dirty Santa is more fun and engaging! We can choose a new present or you can just steal one from the people who’ve already opened one! SUPER FUN! I always stick with opening new presents LOL

These were the presents from our Christmas dinner 2 days ago hehehe. Our budget was RM30, to be honest it’s pretty hard to buy a gift worth RM30and to be a useful present nowadays. I managed to buy something that I think is pretty useful but some of them dont really appreciate it HAHAH. I bought a CNY DVD!!! HAHAHA super useful right because CNY is around the corner edi ma!! You dont have to waste money on buying one and it’s a DVD! hahaha

Last year Jo bought a Christmas tree ornament (super useless) then this year he says he wants to make up for his sin last year. He bought a mobile holder for the car, everyone was stealing his gift!! Then my gift got stuck at one person forever lol

It’s always fun to spend Christmas eve with a group of close friends! I also realized that Michelle has been my Christmas partner for almost 3 years edi!!! She bought me a Hello Kitty mirror this year T___________T She says she just enjoys buying gifts for people LOL where got such people one!

As for Christmas day, some people prefer to spend their Christmas day in the shopping mall or going out but Jo and I prefer to just stay in.

We He watched movies and I kept falling asleep. If I’m not mistaken I took around 5-6 naps yesterday LOL. Jo was like, “You can sleep at night meh?” I guess I can cox I fell asleep instantly HAHAHAHA.

Ahhh Christmas passed by so quickly, I didnt even get to take pictures in front of a Christmas tree lo! I think I have to wait till next year edi because I’m sure they already took down Christmas decorations and started putting up CNY ones edi.

I was listening to OneFm and they started playing all the CNY songs and commercials this morning!!It’s only 1 day after Christmas le! No joke!

Gong Xi Fatt Chai! Merry Christmas!
