  • #boborenovates – Curtains & Blinds!

Bet you guys have never really put much thought into this right? Haha, I know, before we started renovating our house, to me, curtains were just a piece of cloth to block the sunlight and to block people from seeing me naked!

Once we started to decide on the design and colour theme for our new home, I realized what a big part curtains and blinds play in the overall feel of the space.
    IMG_9982
    IMG_9981

Here’s a look at our new place with no curtains or blinds! When we first moved in, our curtains were not ready and I’m not kidding when I say I got 2 tones darker. We were literally suntanning in our own house, LOL.

For all the curtains and blinds in our new house, we engaged Venetta Fabrics & Distribution Sdn Bhd, who are based in Nilai. We made an appointment with them and because we couldn’t travel to Nilai, they even brought us samples of curtains and blinds to choose from! Super convenient! They will also take measurements at your place, so once you confirm your order, you just need to wait for them to make the curtains and blinds, and they will come to install everything on a next appointment! Super easy and convenient.

We roughly knew what colour we wanted and shortlisted our living room curtain colours to either yellow, grey, or navy blue. After consulting with the team from Nafisa, we decided to go with a bright hue of yellow to brighten up our space, and also to contrast with our navy blue couch. Not to mention these are 90% curtains, meaning 90% of visible light will be blocked out, absolutely necessary for our corner unit.

If you dont have any idea on where to start, just ask the Venetta team and they will be happy to recommend you some options.

    IMG_9984

For our room, we went with a brownish grey colour to match our dark grey walls and wooden folding room doors. These are 100% blackout and they are double layered.

    IMG_0007

    IMG_9983

    IMG_9980

Installation took about an hour in total for all the curtains and blinds as everything is made to measure and fits like a glove.

    IMG_0001

Here is the final look of our living room curtains! Jo made a request to have the ends of the curtains not locked in place so we can draw the curtains fully open at night, or also tie them at the corners if we wanted to!

    IMG_0004

    IMG_0003

    IMG_0002

We also went with white wooden blinds for our seating area to complete the modern loft look for our house and they really turned out better than I expected! The sun doesn’t come in too much at this area, we just need to cut the glare when watching TV so wooden blinds will do! If you wish to have 100% blackout effect, you can consider curtains or roller blinds instead.
    IMG_0005

100% blackout curtains for our bedroom! As you can see, the difference between the covered and uncovered part is huge, and with this type of curtains, we can literally sleep through the day, our room is in complete darkness with the curtains closed!

    IMG_0008

    IMG_0015

Last but not least, made to order roller blind for our bathroom shower area. It’s important to get one that fits and covers perfectly if not I dont feel very secure taking a shower, haha.

I will blog about each part of my house renovation separately, so stay tuned for more updates!

  • Sealed with A CiUM

    Sponsored Post

Warning: This post is dedicated to those who are married or in a relationship.

What do you do first thing in the morning when open your eyes? Check your phone? Turn off the alarm? Or you kiss your other half and greet him/her good morning? Jo and I always greet each other in the morning or night with a kiss #truestory because kissing is the simplest and easiest way to show him/her they are being loved or appreciated. If you don’t, you should totally start today hahaha.

Nope, don’t get me wrong my post is not teaching you how to kiss your other half but to let you know how to make kissing more sweet and flavorful.

    1

Let me introduce to you, CiUM! A lip balm that helps to draw couples closer by enhancing couples’ kissing experiences.

    2

CiUM comes in a pack of two different flavors, S’Berry & Meeko or Sambal & Ais! All you need to do is to let your partner choose a flavor then apply them on both of your lips, kiss and enjoy!

    3

You must be wondering how CiUM helps to enhance your kissing experience! Well, it’s actually quite simple, when the couples apply CiUM lip balm and kiss, CiUM unique flavors will combine and you will get a burst of sweet flavor that make the kissing experience more unique and full of sweet surprises.

    4

I have pretty much tried all flavors but I have narrowed down my super favorite which is CiUM Ais because it gives my lips a icy cool feeling, and in hot weather like Malaysia, it’s perfect. I have been carrying CiUM with me because it not only helps to enhance my kissing experiences, it also helps to keep my lips moisturized!

If you’re interested into making your kissing moment more memorable and fun, you can easily get them at www.nomonkey.org or you can also buy them onboard on all Air Asia flights.

    5

Remember to kiss your other half good night or good morning everyday!

  • 3D2N in Taipei

Finally, the last stop of my summer Taiwan trip! As I have mentioned in my previous Taichung post, the last stop of my trip is Taipei. I chose Taipei for my last stop because I will be flying back from Taipei so I don’t want to waste my energy and time dragging my luggage and rushing from another city to Taipei. If you have traveled alone before you know how tiring it will be or maybe I’m too used to Jo being around carrying my luggage? Hahahha

    DSC07862

I checked into Hotel Banka located at Wanhua District Taipei. It’s a very old neighborhood that has a lot of older shops and senior citizens around. There is one famous temple just around the corner of the hotel that is called Long Shan Temple (龍山寺). I arrived at Taipei THSR, then I took a short walk to Taipei subway station and took the blue line (Ban Nan Line) to Long Shan Temple station and took Exit no.1. From there it’s just around a 2 min walk to the hotel.

    DSC07801

I stayed in their twin room with a lot of cute doodles on the wall.

    DSC07800

As you can see the concept of this hotel is slightly different from the ones I stayed in throughout this trip. I would say this hotel is perfect for bag packers or a fun trip with friends.

    DSC07802

They provide simple toiletries like toothbrush and toothpaste only.

My room comes with a bathtub!

Then I headed to the famous Xi Men Ding area where all the tourists and youngsters gather! I will strongly advise against spending too much time outdoors here during summer because it’s crazy hot! I have been here during winter and it was just awesome because you get to hangout longer and you won’t sweat like crazy haha.

After that I met up with my relatives to have dinner at Din Tai Feng! A lot of people who been here have told me the food here tastes different from the one in Malaysia. At first I was like, cannot be, it’s the same branch! Now I understand, the Xiao Long Bao tasted so good and I strongly believe they are using a different dough! The one in Taipei is chewier.

The next morning, I decided to check out Long Shan Temple before heading out for lunch! The weather was so hot that day, I saw someone who literally fainted in the temple *truestory.

    DSC07894

Sorry I had to share this because this is the cleanest and brightest incense pot I have ever seen!

    DSC07897

I was walking around the shop lots outside the temple then I saw this, minced pork rice with egg for only NTD$25

    DSC07913

Then went back to the room to take pictures in front of the doodle wall hehe.

Finally visited Taipei! I’m seriously considering coming back here for New Year’s eve count down cox their fire works performance is something that you shouldn’t miss!

Then took a stroll around 101 and the surrounding mall.

It was time to head back to reality and say bye to this beautiful country! I never get bored of Taiwan even though I have been here more than 15 times! Thanks to Expedia Malaysia for the wonderful trip and I got to experience a lot of things for the first time such as traveling alone and etc!

  • Panasonic Beauty Cafe

    Sponsored Post

So, last week while everyone was busying attending #KLFWRTW2015, I was busy getting ready to attend Panasonic Beauty Café. I’m sure if you have been following me you should remember I attended a similar event last year together with Audrey and Nana! Im so glad that I received another invitation from Panasonic again this year, it’s always fun to check out new beauty technologies that Panasonic has brought to the market. The event was held at Betjeman & Barton in One Utama Shopping Mall, perfect for ladies and of cox taitais =)

    DSC08178

I was there slightly early so I get to take pictures in the photobooth without having to queue! The benefit of arriving early to an event =)

    DSC08179

Then I was lead to a table with lots of Panasonic beauty products. I love how they allow us to feel and touch the products so that we can understand them better by playing with it! I will let you guys know which is my favorite hehe.

    DSC08182

Say Hi to Nana, my soon to be neighbor! I told her she can come visit anytime so I can cook her dinner. OMG I sound like a mother now T_________________T

    DSC08183

I still remember I was using Panasonic Warming Facial & Body Roller EH-SP32 the whole time at last year’s event lol. It’s super comfortable because it’s heated, you get to choose between two temperature settings  44c or 48c!

    DSC08199

Say Hi to Cheesie, it has been a while since I last attended event with this hot mama!

    DSC08185 DSC08190

Event started with a welcome speech from Panasonic representative then we have Yves Chong from Number 76 to show us how to style and take good care of our hair by using Panasonic EH-NA65 Nanoe hair dryer! It helps to dry our hair and yet still keep it moisturized at the same time, so you get shinny and smooth hair everyday!

    DSC08198

After that Yves also demo how to curl our hair by using EH-HW18 Easy Straightening and curling iron! Panasonic EH-HW18 also helps to moisturize your hair while using it!

    DSC08202

Trying out the Panasonic  EH-HE94 Head spa! It has 4-disc rotation massage brush head to be used in wet or dry condition! You can enjoy your little head spa in the shower or while watching tv. I have tried it and it’s so comfortable and relaxing!

    DSC08203 DSC08205

Now, it’s time to introduce my favorite Panasonic beauty product of the day, the Facial Cool Putter EH-SQ10! It helps to instantly cool down our skin and shrink our pores! The Facial Cool Putter reaches about 10c (when room temp is 25c). It’s perfect for us because the weather in Malaysia is crazy hot and we are always exposed under the sun! When you’re hot would crave for icy cool water, so imagine the same thing applies to your skin! When it’s hot it will expand and with Panasonic cool putter, it helps to shrink your pores and tighten your skin! I can imagine lying in bed using it and applying a mask on my face!

    DSC08207

Last but not least we have Aishah Sinclair, Panasonic Beauty Personality, to share her experiences and  her beauty secrets using Panasonic!

    DSC08208

Finally we get to experience each and every Panasonic beauty product on the table!

    DSC08210

Helping Nana to curl her hair using Panasonic  2 in 1 curler for KLFW haha.

    DSC08221

I always wonder how to create a very retro/ pinup bangs and now I know!

    DSC08218

EH-NA65 and EH-NA45 Panasonic Hair dryer, both hair dryers provide moisture while blow drying our hair but if you’re a traveler EH-NA45 is perfect for you because it’s foldable and more compact!

  • 3D2N in TaiChung

The third stop of my Taiwan trip was Taichung. I have never been to Taichung before so I didn’t have much expectation, because to me it’s just like any other city in Taiwan, but I was so wrong. Taichung is so new, very clean, and most of their building designs are very modern, and a taxi driver told me that Taichung is considered the newest city in Taiwan. They are slowly picking up, hence a lot of modern buildings.

    hotel

Since I have never been to Taichung before, I decided to spend 3 days 2 nights in the city. Thank god I made the right choice because the hotel that I stayed in was beyond awesome! It’s by far one of my favorite hotels in Taiwan! I stayed in Hung’s Mansion, it’s a 10 min walk away from Shin Kong Mitsukoshi mall and 5 minute ride from the famous Feng Chia night market. If you’re coming to Taichung with THSR, they also provide free shuttle bus back and forth from THSR station to Hung’s Mansion. If you have a lot of luggage, you can consider taking a taxi at around NT$220, which is not so bad.

    DSC07622

I stayed in their deluxe single room which was big enough to fit 4 adults! It comes with an L shaped couch and a study table!

    DSC07623DSC07627

Look at the amount of space I have to myself hahaha and a big TV too!

    DSC07625

The bed was so comfy and huge!

    DSC07630

The view outside my room =)

    DSC07634

One thing that I love about this hotel is their automatic toilet yo! They have it in all the rooms!

DSC07636Spacious shower area is a must after traveling for so many days!

    DSC07640

Look at how big the bathroom is and it was all for me only hahhaa.

    DSC07644

Their indoor slipper was super comfy that I brought them home with me T__T It’s very fluffy and thick OK, don’t judge!

    DSC07648DSC07651

Just like the other hotels I stayed in Taiwan, they provide all sorts of toiletries for their guests!

    DSC07671DSC07737DSC07736

I’m in love with their hotel lobby design it’s simple yet modern, the combination of furniture helps to spice up the lobby a lot! They also provide free computer usage and printers for their guests. If you prefer to work in your room then there is in-room wifi too!

    DSC07740 DSC07738 DSC07743 DSC07745

Besides that, Hung’s Mansion guests get to enjoy a complimentary hightea session at the hotel restaurant during their stay!

    DSC07733

If you’re a gym-a-holic then you can enjoy your gym session here too!

    DSC07664

Since Taiwan is famous for night markets, I went to check out Yizhong shopping district on the first night! This area is more for youngsters because there are a few high schools around this area.

    DSC07656

If you prefer to check out some sportswear and fashion then this area is perfect for you!

    DSC07665

I also tried out the famous brand of fried chicken that my sister won’t stop telling me about! It’s ridiculously yummy, I don’t know how to describe the taste but it’s so different from the normal fried chicken that we had! If you’re coming to Taiwan make sure you give this a try, it can be found in many places in Taipei or Taichung!

    DSC07696 DSC07697

Then I happened to pass by a 7-11 that sells a lot of yummy food!! Why 7-11 in Taiwan and Japan can be so happening but Malaysia is still so behind ah!

    DSC07749DSC07751DSC07756

The next day I went to Fengjia night market for dinner! Like I have mentioned if Yizhong is more for high school students then Fengjia is more crowded with tourists and college kids! That explains why Fengjia stays open later than Yizhong shopping district.

    DSC07750

My favorite “Ru Wei” is everywhere in Taiwan!!!

    DSC07758 DSC07759 DSC07763

My dinner was a bowl of noodles with a lot of extras!!

    DSC07765

Decided to give 猪血糕 (pig’s blood rice) another try because I tried it once when I was little and I hated it hahah. I guess after you grow up your tastes change, it’s not that bad!

    DSC07767 DSC07768

More things to see in Fengjia!

    DSC07774

The bad thing about going to the night market alone is that you don’t get to enjoy as much food as you wish T____T How to eat all the yummy food alone… I did save some space in my tummy for the famous papaya milk.

    DSC07779 DSC07785

Then I went to “da bao” Ming Lun egg pancake for supper.

    DSC07795DSC07798

That’s pretty much about it for my Taichung trip because the weather was way too hot and I was forced to stay in the hotel during most of the day time (It was around 38 degrees Celsius le). I prefer staying in the nice hotel than going out to get myself burned from the sun hahaha.

Then off I went again to Taipei which was the last stop of my Taiwan trip!

Check out the rates for Hung’s Mansion and visit www.expedia.com.my for other great hotels, flights and free & easy package deals!
