Lunch Date at Underground Societe

Last Saturday we were invited to try out Underground Societe’s brunch menu and it was the perfect opportunity to catch up with Kampungboycitygirl and Careen! Have been so busy with work lately that I just realized that I haven’t had a chance to have a proper brunch in ages! Usually Jo and I will just have breakfast at the kopitiams near our place.

DSC07009Anyway, Underground Societe is located in Sunway, and when I was on the way there I was having flashbacks about my days in Sunway University. Haha, come to think of it, it’s been as long as 10 years back now.

DSC06961 The interior design is slightly more polished and clean cut compared to their sister café Garage 51 nearby, but don’t worry, their menu is similarly priced, without compromising on the ingredients! You’ll see when I talk about their menu!

They are usually jam packed in the evenings as they serve drinks till late, but some people don’t realize they have a full brunch menu too!

DSC06971 Brought Gin along as she was in KL.

DSC06975 I ordered a Hot Chocolate (RM12.00) and opted to pour it myself! Your server will ask you if you would like it poured for you but where’s the fun in that! I’ve got to say the service was also quick and attentive when we were there.

DSC06980 Tadaa! Not too bad right, haha (Ok, I lied, It was done by Careen because I screwed up mine ==”). The chocolate was very rich and had many layers of “chocolatey” flavour which was still noticeable after mixing in the milk.

DSC06977Mochatella (RM16.90). Nutella, coffee cubes, and cold milk, perfect for all the Nutella lovers out there.

DSC06981First dish served to us was this super duper impressive looking Eggs Atlantic with Avodaise (RM18.00). Avocado seems to be all the rage recently and I did like this version of hollandaise much better!

DSC06985 Scrambled Egg with Minute Steak, Casserole of Mushroom and Thin Sliced Onion Ring on Underground Bun (RM23.00). The steak was really seasoned well and had nice flavor, but I think the crispy onion ring on top was the best part!

DSC06994 Smoked Salmon Scramble on Sourdough (RM18.00). Very nice presentation again!

DSC06990 Grilled Slipper Lobster Benedict with Roasted Pumpkin, Poached Eggs and Foyet Sauce on Underground Bun (RM32.00). I never really had lobster for brunch before but this grilled one was really juicy, went well with the roasted pumpkin. I think the price is very worth it for what you get!

DSC06984 Probably my favorite dish was this Underground Muesli with Yoghurt (RM14.00). Yoghurt was nice and creamy and there was strawberry compote in it for some sweetness!

DSC06998200g Grilled Atlantic Salmon with Pesto Gnocchi, Sauteed Capsicum, and Foyet Sauce (RM36.00). This was such a large portion and could easily feed 2! Salmon was nicely grilled with a crispy skin.

Cajun Chicken with Pesto Gnocchi, Sauteed Capsicum, and Robert Sauce (RM23.00), Gin’s favorite dish. Not many places serve gnocchi and their version was good! Light and yummy!

DSC06995French Toast with Nutella (RM15.00).

DSC07000Very interesting Underground Grenade (RM26.00), where they pour a spirit over and light it on fire! Haha, you don’t even get table side service in fancy restaurants these days, but they take the effort to do it here. I won’t spoil the surprise for you, you gotta go try for yourselves, but I can tell you that inside the meringue is a combination of cold, sweet, sour and chocolate.

DSC07006Another dish where they pour ignited spirit over the chocolate ball to melt it. Underground Fireball (RM15.00).

DSC07007 Congratulations once again to Careen on her first pregnancy, I have never seen such a excited expecting mummy ever in my life! Where got people excited with confinement food and stuff one?! Hahaha. Anyways, I had so much fun catching up with everyone, and hopefully we’ll get to do it more often when I move closer to everyone!
