I think the older you get, the more you tend to think birthday celebrations are kinda overrated or maybe it’s just me? I used to love celebrating with a big group because I always thought, the more the merrier right! But, nowadays I realize it’s quite tiring to host a party and then the worst part has got to be the cleaning up part. I have been telling Jo I want to have a pool party for my 30th birthday celebration. I’m not joking but I have been dreaming to have a pool party since 2 years ago and it never came true because when at moment I start planning I get distracted by how much money and hardwork is needed in order to host a perfect pool party! Do I need to mention not everyone will turn up at the party in swimsuits? Yup, Malaysians are not very good when it comes to themed outfits T_T

So then Jo suggested we should plan a birthday getaway instead, just the two of us! We haven’t done any birthday getaways for a while so I told him, “why not!” The only problem was where should we go? At first we thought of Koh Samui because we’ve never been there but I told him I wanna just chill at a resort and do nothing so no sight seeing or any activities. Well obviously going to a new place is a big NONO, so I told him why not we just head to wherever destination that MAS was having a sale on hahhaa, so we ended up in Phuket! We have been there a few years ago and it was fun because we went island hopping and etc. So this time I demanded to just chill at a nice resort and get pampered!

We booked our ticket at RM300/pax for MAS which is quite a good deal right! Then when it was time to decide which resort we should stay at for our 4D3N trip. I was looking at hotels and I came across Pullman Arcadia Phuket located at Naithon beach which is 45 min away from Patong beach, but just 15 min away from the airport! This is perfect because I want to stay far away from tourist attractions! So we booked our 3 night stays at Pullman and since it’s my birthday we decided to go with their one bedroom pool villa!!!

Then off we went for my birthday getaway!

Our flight was not bad because it was only an hour+ flight and thank god they served a proper meal instead of the usual greasy sandwich hahahahaa.

Welcome to Pullman Arcadia, and I totally forgot to take pictures at the lobby because if you’re a guest staying in the villas you dont have to check in at the lobby. They will proceed to check you in in your villa! Villa guests also get a cellphone to call your personal concierge at any time! And oh, by the way, as a villa guest you also get a complimentary ride from the airport to the hotel, make sure you email them your arrival time after you have made your booking!

Lets get straight to our room!

JWL_0020Welcome to our stay for the weekend! The gorgeous one bedroom villa in Pullman Arcadia Phuket!

JWL_0043I’m in love with the idea of having your bed in the middle of the room, isn’t it cool? The moment you open your eyes you can only see blue skies and the sea!

JWL_0045Welcome note and desserts for us =)

JWL_0061Our HUGE walk-in-closet in the villa! Jo and I get to take one side each because we cant do that in our new house now T_T Each of us also get a robe, a pair of outdoor and indoor slippers! O yeah, a beach bag and towels for us too!

JWL_0203After a short tanning session at our pool, we decided to head out for dinner! Pullman Arcadia provides free shuttle from your room to the lobby so just give them a call if you’re lazy to walk haha.

JWL_0215Being 30 means u get sleepy at around 10pm every night hahaha.

    JWL_0265

Waking up to view like this is a blast, since we dont get this view often so I quickly grabbed my bikini and did a few shots.

Then it started drizzling T__T so we headed back to our room. Nothing can stop us from enjoying our little getaway because we have a bathtub that we can enjoy even on a rainy day!

DSC08652Since it was raining, Jo and I decided to go for a couple spa in our hotel. We tried their body scrub and aromatherapy session and it was super good and relaxing!

On our last night at Pullman, I celebrated my 30th birthday at the Italian restaurant in the hotel and cut my birthday cake in our bed in a bathrobe hahhaa. This is how you should really celebrate turning 30 haha.

Thanks to Jo and Pullman for making my 30th birthday so simple but memorable.

  • #boborenovates – Curtains & Blinds!

Bet you guys have never really put much thought into this right? Haha, I know, before we started renovating our house, to me, curtains were just a piece of cloth to block the sunlight and to block people from seeing me naked!

Once we started to decide on the design and colour theme for our new home, I realized what a big part curtains and blinds play in the overall feel of the space.
    IMG_9982
    IMG_9981

Here’s a look at our new place with no curtains or blinds! When we first moved in, our curtains were not ready and I’m not kidding when I say I got 2 tones darker. We were literally suntanning in our own house, LOL.

For all the curtains and blinds in our new house, we engaged Venetta Fabrics & Distribution Sdn Bhd, who are based in Nilai. We made an appointment with them and because we couldn’t travel to Nilai, they even brought us samples of curtains and blinds to choose from! Super convenient! They will also take measurements at your place, so once you confirm your order, you just need to wait for them to make the curtains and blinds, and they will come to install everything on a next appointment! Super easy and convenient.

We roughly knew what colour we wanted and shortlisted our living room curtain colours to either yellow, grey, or navy blue. After consulting with the team from Nafisa, we decided to go with a bright hue of yellow to brighten up our space, and also to contrast with our navy blue couch. Not to mention these are 90% curtains, meaning 90% of visible light will be blocked out, absolutely necessary for our corner unit.

If you dont have any idea on where to start, just ask the Venetta team and they will be happy to recommend you some options.

    IMG_9984

For our room, we went with a brownish grey colour to match our dark grey walls and wooden folding room doors. These are 100% blackout and they are double layered.

    IMG_0007

    IMG_9983

    IMG_9980

Installation took about an hour in total for all the curtains and blinds as everything is made to measure and fits like a glove.

    IMG_9999

    IMG_9998

    IMG_0001

Here is the final look of our living room curtains! Jo made a request to have the ends of the curtains not locked in place so we can draw the curtains fully open at night, or also tie them at the corners if we wanted to!

    IMG_0004

    IMG_0003

    IMG_0002

We also went with white wooden blinds for our seating area to complete the modern loft look for our house and they really turned out better than I expected! The sun doesn’t come in too much at this area, we just need to cut the glare when watching TV so wooden blinds will do! If you wish to have 100% blackout effect, you can consider curtains or roller blinds instead.
    IMG_0005

100% blackout curtains for our bedroom! As you can see, the difference between the covered and uncovered part is huge, and with this type of curtains, we can literally sleep through the day, our room is in complete darkness with the curtains closed!

    IMG_0008

    IMG_0015

Last but not least, made to order roller blind for our bathroom shower area. It’s important to get one that fits and covers perfectly if not I dont feel very secure taking a shower, haha.

I will blog about each part of my house renovation separately, so stay tuned for more updates!

  • A Short Update

Halo all, this post is for those who are not following me on Dayre or Instagram because it’s just a short update on how am I doing recently. I have to admit I have been a bit lazy in updating my blog and I have to put the blame on Dayre too. Dayre makes our lives so much easier, just a few clicks you get to share your daily life with everyone! If you’re on Dayre or you’re interested to join just make sure you follow me at @Bobostephanie. I always share my instant thoughts, daily life or food recipies there!

Anyway, I was saying this post is specially dedicated to those who prefer reading blogs instead, these are the most important things that are happening in my life right now.

    IMG_9634

I have finally moved into our new house. Before this, I dont know why but I always tell people I’m going back to Jo’s place and I dont refer it as my house cox it’s not haha, it’s a rental ==”

Anyway, we have been staying in our new place for almost 3 weeks now, so far so good! I can happily say our life is so perfect. Things instantly changed right after we moved in, we stopped going out, we stay home as much as we can, we stopped hanging out late with friends.

Our daily activity now is to cook and watch TV at home, it’s so simple but full of happiness. The days I have been waiting for since 5 years ago, a place that we called HOME.

A little introduction of our house, it’s a loft style condo! Jo and I love American loft apartments a lot, I love the mixture of textures, furniture, the bright color deco and of cox the wood and metal. Most of our furniture are from Taobao and IKEA which I will also blog about in my next post!

At first we wanted to engage an ID to help design our space but I’m glad that in the end we decided to do it ourselves instead because we had so much fun choosing tiles and etc. It’s fun to be hands-on on every aspect of our renovation  but it’s super frustrating to deal with contractors. Talking about contractors and ID, I think KBCG have had the worst experience of all. (I will leave this topic to the next post because I have learnt so much through renovation that I would love to share with everyone!)

    IMG_9598

Like I have mentioned, we try to cook dinner everyday now. Most of the dishes you see in the pictures are prepared by Jo, I have no idea, he enjoys cooking more than me and he is VERY GOOD at it. That’s the awesome thing about marrying a man who cooks, and he cooks just for you. The good thing about cooking at home is that you get to save a lot and it’s definitely healthier. I can also spend more time at home and watch my favorite drama =D We usually stock up our groceries on Sunday or Wednesday because these are the days that we go back to Puchong for dinner with MIL. We like buying groceries in Redtick Setia Walk so we can just go to the gym there, then buy groceries when we ‘re done.

    IMG_9611

I went back to my hometown the other day to do some spring cleaning on my stuff that I have been keeping since high school. Found a lot of treasure in my boxes like my Olsen Twins book collection, Mother’s day and Father’s day cards that I made for my parents, sticker book, love letter from Jo and also my baby picture (too cute to resist hahahha) Jo was like where got ppl say ownself cute one, you look like a giant male baby lo. I was like nvm at least I know this baby grow up to be pretty LOL. My expression is still the same as now le hahahah.

    IMG_9417

I’m still doing Kayla BBG and this will be my 3rd time! The first round I was more disciplined la, I eat clean and never skip gym on weekdays but on the second round I eat clean on alternative days or when I feel like eating hahaha then I only go to the gym on Mon, Wed and Fri!

As for me, the 1st round of Kayla really helped me to lose weight and build up my stamina then 2nd round I started seeing changes to my body to be leaner and more defined. It’s more obvious on my back and arms but my abs still not as lean as I wish.

As for my third round, I slack A LOT! I skip gym if I’m lazy then when I do I just follow Kayla BBG and a little bit of cardio. My body still remains, not much changes but of cox not as lean as before.

Overall, I really do think Kayla BBG helps a lot throughout my fitness regime and help me getting lean. I really see changes on my body and stamina everyday. Right now, I’m trying to finish up Kayla 1.0 then will move to 2.0 soon!

    IMG_8010

We started of with just the two of us then now we have 6 of us doing Kayla together but most of the time just 4 of us instead. Luckily Celebrity Fitness has all the things and space that we need for our daily workout.

Well, that’s all for now! I will try to update as often as I can ok, please dont abandon my blog haha

  • 3D2N in TaiChung

The third stop of my Taiwan trip was Taichung. I have never been to Taichung before so I didn’t have much expectation, because to me it’s just like any other city in Taiwan, but I was so wrong. Taichung is so new, very clean, and most of their building designs are very modern, and a taxi driver told me that Taichung is considered the newest city in Taiwan. They are slowly picking up, hence a lot of modern buildings.

    hotel

Since I have never been to Taichung before, I decided to spend 3 days 2 nights in the city. Thank god I made the right choice because the hotel that I stayed in was beyond awesome! It’s by far one of my favorite hotels in Taiwan! I stayed in Hung’s Mansion, it’s a 10 min walk away from Shin Kong Mitsukoshi mall and 5 minute ride from the famous Feng Chia night market. If you’re coming to Taichung with THSR, they also provide free shuttle bus back and forth from THSR station to Hung’s Mansion. If you have a lot of luggage, you can consider taking a taxi at around NT$220, which is not so bad.

    DSC07622

I stayed in their deluxe single room which was big enough to fit 4 adults! It comes with an L shaped couch and a study table!

    DSC07623DSC07627

Look at the amount of space I have to myself hahaha and a big TV too!

    DSC07625

The bed was so comfy and huge!

    DSC07630

The view outside my room =)

    DSC07634

One thing that I love about this hotel is their automatic toilet yo! They have it in all the rooms!

DSC07636Spacious shower area is a must after traveling for so many days!

    DSC07640

Look at how big the bathroom is and it was all for me only hahhaa.

    DSC07644

Their indoor slipper was super comfy that I brought them home with me T__T It’s very fluffy and thick OK, don’t judge!

    DSC07648DSC07651

Just like the other hotels I stayed in Taiwan, they provide all sorts of toiletries for their guests!

    DSC07671DSC07737DSC07736

I’m in love with their hotel lobby design it’s simple yet modern, the combination of furniture helps to spice up the lobby a lot! They also provide free computer usage and printers for their guests. If you prefer to work in your room then there is in-room wifi too!

    DSC07740 DSC07738 DSC07743 DSC07745

Besides that, Hung’s Mansion guests get to enjoy a complimentary hightea session at the hotel restaurant during their stay!

    DSC07733

If you’re a gym-a-holic then you can enjoy your gym session here too!

    DSC07664

Since Taiwan is famous for night markets, I went to check out Yizhong shopping district on the first night! This area is more for youngsters because there are a few high schools around this area.

    DSC07656

If you prefer to check out some sportswear and fashion then this area is perfect for you!

    DSC07665

I also tried out the famous brand of fried chicken that my sister won’t stop telling me about! It’s ridiculously yummy, I don’t know how to describe the taste but it’s so different from the normal fried chicken that we had! If you’re coming to Taiwan make sure you give this a try, it can be found in many places in Taipei or Taichung!

    DSC07696 DSC07697

Then I happened to pass by a 7-11 that sells a lot of yummy food!! Why 7-11 in Taiwan and Japan can be so happening but Malaysia is still so behind ah!

    DSC07749DSC07751DSC07756

The next day I went to Fengjia night market for dinner! Like I have mentioned if Yizhong is more for high school students then Fengjia is more crowded with tourists and college kids! That explains why Fengjia stays open later than Yizhong shopping district.

    DSC07750

My favorite “Ru Wei” is everywhere in Taiwan!!!

    DSC07758 DSC07759 DSC07763

My dinner was a bowl of noodles with a lot of extras!!

    DSC07765

Decided to give 猪血糕 (pig’s blood rice) another try because I tried it once when I was little and I hated it hahah. I guess after you grow up your tastes change, it’s not that bad!

    DSC07767 DSC07768

More things to see in Fengjia!

    DSC07774

The bad thing about going to the night market alone is that you don’t get to enjoy as much food as you wish T____T How to eat all the yummy food alone… I did save some space in my tummy for the famous papaya milk.

    DSC07779 DSC07785

Then I went to “da bao” Ming Lun egg pancake for supper.

    DSC07795DSC07798

That’s pretty much about it for my Taichung trip because the weather was way too hot and I was forced to stay in the hotel during most of the day time (It was around 38 degrees Celsius le). I prefer staying in the nice hotel than going out to get myself burned from the sun hahaha.

Then off I went again to Taipei which was the last stop of my Taiwan trip!

Check out the rates for Hung’s Mansion and visit www.expedia.com.my for other great hotels, flights and free & easy package deals!

  • Weekend Brunch at Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua

    DSC06499

Due to our over-excitement for the day, we woke up real early, around 7am, so we decided to hit the gym. Haha, I was willing to work out even though we were on vacation because I knew our trip was not only about getting tanned, it’s about putting on extra pounds too hahaha.

DSC06495Took a short walk around the hotel before breakfast.

**Warning- This post will be filled with lots and lots of food, if you’re hungry please avoid reading. I’m not responsible for any hunger issues.
