From the title of this post you should be able to tell what I will be rambling on about, lol. I was having dinner with Shirley and my sisters the other day and we talked about how our lives have changed from a few years ago to now.
My sister recently went to The Roof for her friend’s birthday and she saw something that she will never understand. She said she saw a lot of young girls carrying limited edition branded bags like limited Chanel Boys and etc.
She was really curious how can such young girls can afford such expensive bag? It’s not like RM7k-8k, we are talking about RM14k-20k per bag! That amount of money can last me for quite long le!
So we started the discussion of how we are so old and we are now complaining how youngsters are so spoilt and all lol. I know some of them are from rich families but all of them?? How can a young person afford a bag that costs more than 5 months salary (basic pay la )? Something I shall never know…
Then Shirley started sharing her story too… She says she went for her annual dinner with her colleague in a pricey Chinese restaurant and she said she and her colleagues decided on the cheapest set dinner which is RM999/table, but the next table chose the most expensive package! She didnt share how much per table la but she told me the set dinner included abalones, shark fins and all sort of expensive dishes that you can think of! The problem is not “Why people cannot eat expensive meal?” it’s “How?”. The table next to her are all in their 20’s? Very young and rich I guess?
I’m so curious! HOW?!!! I have seen and met a lot of young and rich kids, some of them are have very strong and rich families to support them. Some of them are entrepreneurs which I always admire, some work harder than anyone else to get this kind of lifestyle… So what do you think about the rest of them?
Also, kids nowadays are carrying an iPad or iPhone with them. I remember last time i used to share a Nokia phone with my sister!
When I see a kid carrying a coloring book or novel with them in a train or restaurant, I feel so surprised because kids dont do that now!! That day I saw a boy listening to the music from his iPhone on a school bus T_T
Anyway, it’s none of my concern LOL
Back to the “we are so old” discussion…
Then our conversation extended to how our lifestyle has changed alot now that we’re aging!
I used to hate chilling and drinking sessions in bars or pubs. I always tell my friends if I want to drink I want to make sure I can dance too! Hahaha I love going to clubs, you know just to dress up, drink and hit the dance floor like you own it! So whenever my friends call and ask me to go for a chill out session I will just reject their invitation lol. I personally think it’s really boring to just drink and chill… When you’re young you want to go all out ma!
But now… Things have changed hahaha
1. Entertaiment
I went to ZOUK last month for my friend’s party. I felt so left out on the dance floor, I have totally forgotten my dance moves T___T I refused to drink because I kept telling myself if you get drunk ah, it’s super hard for you to wake up tomorrow for breakfast T_____T OMG you can kill me now , thank you hahaha
I stood at a corner at ZOUK and just people watched… I saw a lot of girls wearing super short skirts and was too drunk to stand up by themselves. I kept telling myself waw so dangerous le, what if something bad happens! I’m starting to get concerned for them like their mum would do. That’s when I decided to just stay away from clubbing, it’s a very bad place for aunties like me! lol
I also remember last time when I was in the club I hate it when people chit chat lol becuase I cant really hear what they say and I have to shout! It’s different now since I’m an aunty because I keep chit chatting with friends in a club (becasue I dont dance and drink anymore) and in the end of the night my throat hurts so bad… hahaha
We prefer to go out for mahjong or board game sessions on weekends instead. The other day when Jo was talking to his fren to ask them out for a drink or two, he mentioned, “No la cox my wife going out to play mahjong with her frens.” I shouted “DONT SAY MAHJONG LA!!! Just say drink cannot meh!!” Mahjong sounds really old la!”
2. Conversation between friends
Last time, my conversation with friends are usually about travels, shopping and boyfriend problems but now my conversations are household problems and kid problems. When there is a gathering with my aunties girls we always talk about how we should wait for each other to have kids so our kids wont be bored hahaha. We talk about how we should raise our kids so that they wont be spoilt. We even debate sending our kids to government schools or private HAHAHA. When I’m out with Audrey and Hui Wen we talk about maid or house problems hahaha. Now that Audrey has Figther now, she shares even more tips on how to take care of babies!! I was like waw taking care of a baby is really not easy le!
3. Beauty Sleep
Obviously, when u’re old you tend to sleep earlier haha. This is what’s happening to my life now. I get tired or sleepy when the clock strikes 12am T__T We have been going to bed on Fridays at 11.30pm – 12am and waking up at 8am in the morning ON A SATURDAY! It happened again last week so Jo suggested we should bring Babyboy out for a walk in the park. Babyboy must be secretly liking our life style now because we spend more time with him now.
If I sleep at 2am-3am, the next day I will wake up at 9.30am – 10am because I cant sleep past 10am, and I hate it because I will be really tired through out the whole day and waste my day.
4. Shopping
I’ve started to enjoy doing furniture and grocery shopping now T__T. Whenever I’m browsing at taobao I will check out their furniture section instead.
Dont want to explain more on this statement….
Jo passed by while I was half way typing then he stopped and read what I have typed, he was like “Oi don’t so aunty la, keep complaining about stuff.”
I know…
Have any of these symptoms happened to you yet? If there are then you better realize you’re turning into an aunty or uncle soon.
