  • Pre-Birthday Dinner With Shirley

My family always say this to me :” How many times r you celebrating your birthday?”

I always have no idea how many times, I love celebrating birthdays with my loved ones. Dinner, cake, laughter, delicious food and wishes, they are always my favorite.

So, I had my pre-birthday dinner on Thursday with Shirley because she had to leave KL for the weekend and she couldn’t make it to my birthday bash in Zouk. We decided to have western food and it has to be some where near my place so we wont have to get stuck in the traffic for more than 1-2 hours.

It was my first time dining at Souled Out, I have been told that their food is quite good.

My messy hair with Shirley hehehehe..

    JO and I.

I ordered a mojito but in the end JO drank the whole glass cause I couldn’t take the taste of it, not my type of drink.

    Seafood Maninara

    B-B-Q Chicken

    Sizzling lamb cutlet (my favorite)

My first birthday cake of me 2010 birthday celebration. There is many more to come haha

Thanks to Shirley for dinner and cutting Nacho’s nails, I had fun chit chatting with you that night.

We should do it more often not just for birthday celebrations.

There will be many more birthday celebration posts coming up,

    stay tuned.

  • Mid Autumn Festival

This year I celebrated mid-autumn festival differently, I celebrated in Jo’s place with his family. Few days back Jo’s mum invited me to join them for dinner during the actual day of mid-autumn festival. Since I couldnt make it back home to celebrate with my family, I decided to join Jo and his family.

I went over to his place after work, the traffic was insane! I spent an hour and a half on the road from Hartamas to Puchong, it was supposed to be a 25 min drive. I hate KL traffic, it’s horrible; building more bridges or lanes doesnt make anything better, you are just wasting our money!

By the time I got to his place, his mum was already cooking and the table is already full with yummy dishes.

Their neighbor decorated their back yard with colorful lanterns.

A snapshot of my baby boy.

    Fishes

    Flowers

    Different type of Mooncakes.

some of the dishes… simple but delicious!

    My very tired looking face.

All the dishes were almost done… Yummy

I was so surprised when Jo’s mum took out the pomelo! It has been a while since I had one…

It took me a while to finish peeling, so susah…

I enjoyed peeling it, it felt like I was peeling a huge orange.

After 5 minutes of peeling, IM DONE! Super sweet and juicy yummm

Then it was time to have mooncakes! Jo cut a tiny small mooncake into 4 slices.

baby was the most excited one when it comes to mooncake or fruits but I didnt feed him any.

Mini Moocakes are the best, not too filling.

Then we had cakes that I brought over, super full!

After dinner Jo showed me a surprise present, something that I really NEED for my work. Bamboo Pen & Touch.

Jo didnt have time to wrap the prsent but it was sweet enough.

    unwrapped the present.

I always wanted a Bamboo pen & touch when I was back in the States but I thought I might not need it since Im fine with using the touch pad. Now it’s easier for me to draw or edit pictures in Adobe Photoshop, love it!

Then Jo’s mum got us some of this ( I have no idea what’s the name of it). This is a must have snack during Mooncake festival.

I had fun hanging out with the family and I hope I’ll get to celebrate next year’s mid-autumn festival with my family too.

Well, it’s time to hit the bed because I haven’t had enough sleep since last Thursday.

My birthday celebrations were insane! Indeed, the most memorable birthday!

    Will definitely blog about it.

    till then…

  • Nasi Lemak Freak

P/S: This is not a food blog.

As usual everytime when it comes to dinner, I always have no idea what to eat. I always stare blankly and try my best to think what I’m craving for at that time. The clock hit 5pm and it’s time to think of what to eat for dinner. I was staring at my computer blankly and then Jo skyped me and said he was craving to have good nasi lemak. I always love nasi lemak, coconut rice, rendang, the nuts and ikan bilis, they are always my favorite! We agreed to try out something new, something different, we’ve tried Bandariya located at Solaris Dutamas. I love their fried chicken and some of the dishes, they have lots of varieties of dishes to choose from. It’s worth trying even though we had a hard time looking for the restaurant.

This time we tried something different it’s not local nasi lemak…

… it’s a taste from the east coast, Wau Penyu.

Very simple but well decorated interior.

Jo always orders a Ice Teh and I always have Teh O Ice Limau/ Ice Lemon Tea.

picture with no make up and my new glasses 8)

I ordered nasi kerabu with fish and chicken. I love their rice it tasted very different form coconut rice. It contains a lil bit of spice, ikan bilis and green beans.

    Jo’s classic nasi lemak.

I will strongly recommend any one of you to give this restaurant a try if you’re bored of the normal nasi lemak u’ve been having at the mamak. I shouldnt have written this entry before lunch, Im torturing myself.

Thats it, a short food entry.

By the way, I’ve decided to have dinner at Bandariya tonight, I will definitely blog about it on my next entry.

    Stay tuned!

  • Jo’s Birthday Celebrations

September is always a happy month for me cause this month is full of joy and celebration. For your information, Jo and I are both September babies, our birthdays are just 20 days apart. Jo always prefers a quiet birthday celebration with his loved ones, so we decided to have his pre-birthday dinner with the family and a nice birthday dinner with me on the actual day.

We decided to have Jo’s birthday dinner at a Chinese restaurant in Bangsar , they serve very very good Chinese food, yum. I will list this restaurant into my top 10 favorite Chinese restaurants in KL. My first favorite is still the Chinese restaurant back in my hometown, love their fried chicken!

    Me and Jo’s mummy.

    The Family

    Me and Jo’s parents.

    The birthday boy

I will just upload some of my favorite dishes of the dinner. Soft shell crab with bun, super juicy and yummy! I always love dishes that contains bun, like 悶肉加饅頭is my super favorite!

Then we have Chinese style steak.

    牛排(steak),南乳排骨(ribs),魚(fish) and 豆腐(tofu)。

    Well decorated vege.

Last but not least, eggplant & meat noodles.

After dinner we went straight to Pressroom to have a drink.

After work we went over to Solaris to pick up Jo’s cake that I ordered a few days ago.

    Lighted the candles.

    Made a wish…

Blew out the candles and cut the cake! We were craving to have something sweet so we ate the cake before dinner. Although it’s not a very good looking cake but it tasted really really good not too sweet or heavy.

Jo has been telling me about this restaurant when we were in the States and also after reading my fren’s blog about this restaurant, I decided to give it a try. I made a reservation 2 weeks ago and have been looking forward ever since.

Frangipani @ Changkat Street, KL . I think my watermark ruined this picture =(

What a coincidence, Frangipani first opened its door on Me and JO’s anniversary which is on the 24th of Dec.

Love their interior with a little pool in the middle of the restaurant. When I first stepped into the restaurant…

Waiter : ” Your first time here?”

    Bo:”Yes.”

Waiter:”Just so you know that is a pool in the middle, watch your step.”

    Bo: “……” 0.0 Thanks

I can imagine people actually falling into the pool because it really does look like a floor, due to the flat and calm water surface.

Birthday boy looking at the menu.

I was busy taking pictures till Jo says” I think it’s time for you to look at the menu.”

    Prawn & crab bisque

    My favorite- Scallop

    Squid ink risotto

    Quail

    Lychee sorbet

    Lamb

Wagyu beef cheeks. Melt in your mouth yummy.

I was in a hurry to take pictures of all the food that we ordered, so here are parts of it. After dinner we went over to Library at Mid Valley to meet up with Jo’s friends to have couple of drinks. The boys drank 5 jugs of beer and got really excited and suggested we should continue drinking at G6 in the Gardens. It was Jo’s birthday so everyone was so happy about it and I have no idea why! Alcoholics always come out with a very reasonable reason to drink.  Well at the end of the day, I was the one who had to send Jo and his friend home. Do I still need to say much about it? Hehehe I’m pretty sure everyone had fun, that is the most important part.

Last but not least, Happy Birthday my birthday boy.

    You

  • Dinner at Zanmai

I realized I always blog about my weekends and not weekdays, but what can I do, work life sucks…Yes, BIG TIME!

So those who are working must know how the end of the month are the happiest days cox it’s when we receive our paychecks.

Right after work I walked to The Gardens and waited for Jo to have dinner.

We decided on Japanese food because I finally got my first paycheck.

The minute I got there, there was already a long queue.

The gave us menus while queuing so we got to order our food before getting a seat to save time !

After 15 minutes of waiting, we were finally brought to our mini table.

Since we already ordered our food while queuing, all we had to do was just wait.

This was also my last day of work, for those who don’t know, yea I quit. I love the working environment but not the job scope, it’s not what I want. My sweet colleagues gave me this present as my goodbye present. The picture frame is full of meaning, for example the cats represent our miao miao gang, the small cactus represents our future Cameron Highlands trip, the ice creams represent how we love snacks and last but not least, the piggy represents our Bah Kut Teh Nights! Thank you guys!

It was the first night out with Bb Mich and I had fun with her, although all we did in Phuture tat night was just walking around looking for a place to sit and rest our feet. I hope there is more to come, k bb?
