Halo guys, I figured maybe I should update you guys on whats going on with my career. Not long ago, I tweeted that I quit my job. I was working as a social media executive in an advertising firm, Mindshare Malaysia.
A few of my friends warned me before I accepted the offer from Mindshare. They say working in an advertising firm is like signing up yourself for “No Life”; it literally means that you have no other life besides your working life hahha.
I refused to listen to them because my passion has always been in advertising. I fell in love with advertising back in the States. I was really curious on how advertisers come out with such brilliant ideas to sell their products.
So, I decided to continue my studies in advertising and promotion!
After graduating from the States, I was lucky enough to meet my long lost friend and he introduced me into an advertising company called Mindshare.
Ever since I joined Mindshare, my working hours were so unstable, it was no longer 9-5. It was more than that! ==” I was pretty happy and I felt productive everyday. Besides that, being able to learn new things everyday is really a bonus for me! (I hate wasting time sitting at home doing nothing and the scariest part is that I don’t get to learn anything from it. In another way, I would say no contribution to society == )
I was assigned to the Offline team when I first started but after that I switched over to Social Media.
It was so much fun!! I got to access FB and read blogs during working hours! (Seriously, how cool is that right!)
I have a super helpful and nice mentor! Not to mention, the colleagues were so friendly and we were like a big family!!!
Happy things wont last forever, I know…
After I got engaged, dad decided it’s about time for me to join his company.
He says that I shouldn’t be working late and all after we got married and I need to spend more time with my husband and his family. Well, I agreed! (My family is the typical type of Chinese family a haha)
I asked for another year for me to work in Mindshare but he says No.
Therefore, I quit my job and joined my dad’s company.
This week will be my 2nd week working in dad’s company.
Dad’s company is totally different from what I have been doing. It’s more of a man’s job because it requires me to travel back and forth to Malacca and Shah Alam. We also deal with a lot of factories.
Thank god that I LOVE to travel and I love to drive, so travelling isn’t the big issue for me! phewwww…
Right now the biggest challenge is that I will have to try to change some of the stuff in the office
using the experience that I have learned from Mindshare.
You should know that during our dad’s generation there is no Internet or computer.
They use a lot of fax and also snail mail.
Thank god dad allowed me to carry out some changes, so my current task is to list down whatever stuff that needs to be changed and change it one by one ==” I tell you this is the hardest job because you dont know if others will accept the changes or not!! Stress level goes up to 10000!
Everyone has been telling me Im lucky enough to work for my dad because it’s flexible and I cant agree more.
Hahahaha
What’s a leave form? wtf hahahaha
Dad changed my position to Director =O!!!!!!
WTF, never thought one day I could be a director of a company. (Ok la not a big ass company but Im pretty satisfied with my current company, not too big or not too small)

Lady boss hahahahah ahemm!
Im learning everything from admin, finance, purchase, HR and etc….
Start from basics…
I promised my mum I will try my best to continue dad’s business after he retires! Gosh…
Im so stressed hahahaha…. (Crazy laugh)
I can do this? I think I can!
