  • How I spent Christmas

This entry has been sitting in my draft since last year. I know this is a long overdue post but since I have already written it, why not I just post it up and don’t waste my effort.

Last year I had a rather quiet Christmas, the first thing I did when I woke up on the Christmas eve I headed to

McD to have my brunch… That morning I was craving for Filet-o-Fish and fries.

I just cant resist when it comes to McD.

Then we went to stock up our fridge and also get some ingredients for dinner.

On Christmas eve night, Cheryl called and invited us to their house party. We had  lots fun at the party even thought it looked more like a small gathering than a party but I liked it.

Thanks to Cheryl and Amin for this wonderful gift, I have been wanting to get new lip gloss and you guys read my mind! Besides that, thanks Eeling and Ling Kit for the Hello Kitty necklace.

So, the day before Christmas Jo suggested that we should stay home for dinner and he will be the chef for the day. Well, it sounds pretty good for me because I don’t have to cook! Ok, don’t get me wrong I love cooking, especially for my loved one. Since he volunteer to cook for a day, why not?!

We had Pork Chop with caramel apples, mashed potatoes and italian vegetable soup. It might not look very pretty but trust me I LOVE the pork chop and mashed potatoes they are super delicious.

For dessert we had cookies & vanilla ice cream.

I had a wonderful night, I always love spending time with Jo because he always makes me feel special and appreciated. After dinner, we went to watch movie with couple of friends and there goes my Christmas.

I hope everyone had a wonderful and memorable Christmas too.

  • Merry Christmas

May your Christmas sparkle with moments of love, laughter and goodwill,
And may the year ahead be full of contentment and joy.
    Have a Merry Christmas

  • Yenni’s 21st birthday

Thank god, I have finally finished all my Mid term exams. I don’t feel like commenting on my mid terms I know you understand that. So lets get back to the original topic of this post.

Few weeks ago we went to Chicago to celebrated Yenni’s 21st! Yupe, she is finally 21st!!! We have been waiting this day to come because we can finally hang out at bars after her 21st!

Yupe, you are only legally allowed into bars or to consume alcohol in The States if you’re 21 or above.

Jon planned out her birthday and invited everyone to head over to Chicago to stay 1 nite and have a fancy dinner. We went to Chicago on Friday afternoon right after everyone was done with their classes and work. There was only 5 of us who went to Chicago because the rest of our friends were busy with their school work and midterms. We arrived in Chicago at around 7pm and the first destination was to rush over to the cake shop to pick up Yenni’s birthday cake. Then we went to check in to our hotel room, changed and got ready for Yenni’s birthday dinner.

Our dinner reservation was at 9.30pm. The restaurant that Jon picked was Blackbird.

I love the interior of the restaurant it was very modern and cozy. The only thing I hated about the restaurant was the yellow lighting, it made all my pictures to turn out to be very yellow. I spent half the afternoon figuring out how to edit it to look more natural, but I failed.

They provided bag holders for their customers.

I love the taste of their butter with herbs but I’m not a big fan for their bread, it’s too hard.

I had NV Bugey Cerdon Sparkling Rose. I love the taste of it, its very bubbly and sweet =)

Enjoying my drink. I finished it right before the appetizer….

My daughter of the day, Bega Teoh Looi/Siow

Finally, a picture with our birthday girl.

    Appetizer from the restuarant.

    Appetizer :

Lentil crusted louisiana frog legs with chanterelles, local crabapples and medjool dates

Blue hill bay bouchot mussel soup with whitefish, saffron, garlic and basil

    Main Course:

Slagel Family Farms ‘fried’ chicken with black mission figs, treviso and smoked potato salad

Roasted squab with braised lobster mushrooms, forbidden black rice and plums

Braised rack of lamb with Nichols Farm heirloom tomatoes, melrose peppers, red pepper panisse, dandelion greens and pita

Grilled iberico pork collar with fresh black beans, cipollini onions, honeydew melon, poblano pepper and brioche

    The girls.

While we were waiting for the cake.

    Yup, still waiting…

    Yenni’s 21st Birthday cake.

The sweet couple and the beautiful cake =)

The most important part of the birthday, hope your wishes come true.

They modeled this cute little fondant girl according to Yenni’s picture.

Personally I think they look alike besides the blue eyes they put on little Yenni.

I just can’t wait to eat the cake haha

Brought the cake back to our hotel room and continued to take pictures with it.

With all the cute details, it’s worth paying more =)

We took a group pic with the birthday girl, before everyone went to bed.

We took a normal one and a goofy one =) Love it!

    A simple celebration, a gathering of friends;
here is wishing you great happiness, a joy that never ends.
    Happy Happy 21st Birthday!

  • My Birthday Celebration

    It’s my birthday!!!

Sometimes I do think that birthdays are so overrated.

    I prefer small celebrations.

A nice dinner with my loved one and friends

I miss celebrating my birthday with my family, especially my twin.

I hate the fact that I’m turning old.

Last year, I celebrated my birthday in a strip club. It was crazy and fun, I made out with a striper and I hated it. I’m pretty sure I’m 100% straight. After the wild celebration last year, I’ve decided this year I should do it in a normal way. A nice dinner with all my beloved friends. In fact, I love it…

Jo planned everything, from choosing a restaurant, inviting all my friends and ordering my birthday cake. A big thank you to him, he made me felt so special.

Please allow me to replace all the boring words with pictures.

We had my birthday dinner at San Chez, a tapas bistro. It was my first time trying tapas and I love the concept of small dishes.

“Bobo company of 8, your table is ready.”

Yenni and I. Thanks for celebrating my birthday with me although you have tons of works waiting for you.

My loved one and my “aiya” daughter.

Big kiss for someone who organized the whole thing for me *mucks*

In love with this picture of me.

    Red Sangria

Wine, citrus juices, and a touch of brandy.

Bread and olive oil (I love this the most)

    Patatas Bravas

Fried potatoes with alioli and spicy tomato sauce

    Cerdo Asado

Braised pork, idiazabol bomba rice, Spanish fried egg, roasted red pepper marmalade

    Calamaritos Fritos

Flash fried squids, Serrano ham, pork belly, caramelized onions, orange zest, garlic, squid ink alioli

    Paella Valenciana

Alioli saffron rice, chicken tenderloins, shrimp, chorizo sausage, mussels, crawfish, tomato, pimientos, peas

I love the interior of the restaurant, very colorful.

After dinner, we went straight back to my Jon’s place to blow off the candles and eat my long awaited cake.

In love with Water Street’s Tiramisu cake, yum yum..

I sat infront of my cake for 10 minutes before the clock hit 12am. I just couldn’t wait to eat it, I have been wanting to eat this cake for more than 3 months.

1 minute before my birthday, my friends started to sing Happy Birthday. They sang it 3 times in a row just to make sure it was my birthday already, how sweet!

    Jo and I

While I was making my birthday wish, Jo kissed my head and whispered “Happy Birthday, baby”.

I spent 5 minutes making my birthday wish. HEY, I couldn’t decide on which wish I should make.

JO: Wei, why izzit so long?

Bo: I cant make up my mind!

Jo: Why didn’t you rehearse last night?

    Bo: Oooo I forgot, shit!

continued deciding on what to wish for.

Finally, blew the candle and hope that my wishes will come true.

    Cut the cake…

    and took a group picture.

Thank you all for coming and making my birthday memorable.

My birthday surprise from my beloved friends.

I always wanted a pink Balenciaga purse.

Thank you Yenni, Jon and Chi Weng for helping my bag reunite with her baby girl.

Thank you Bega, Bff Zoe, Cheryl, Amin, Carmen, Ken, Jeong, Lynn, Yenn and Yihwen for this lovely card.

Thank you Jo for the wonderful presents, the trip, the jumbo and my shopping spree in New york.

    Once again,

Thank you to those who overwhelmed my facebook wall with all your wishes.

Thank you those who sent your birthday wishes to me thru SMS.

Thank you those who came to my Birthday dinner

Thanks to cheryl for the birthday post, love it
